Bussed Ed

Bussed Ed is a collaborative project which aims to support and encourage ‘at-risk’ young people in attending school/training and reduce the incidence of young offending, recidivism and truancy.

It is important to acknowledge the range of factors that influence the social and educational prospects of the young people who constitute the target population. They include:

  • transient lifestyle and accommodation;
  • patterns of substance abuse/use;
  • peer pressure;
  • complex and often distracting family issues;
  • issues of contact with the justice system;
  • dynamics of the school or vocational program environment;
  • differing capacity to engage with service providers and educational programs;
  • other at-risk behaviours.

The collaborating organisations have identified an opportunity to pool resources to create a transport and breakfast program which also involves emotional and social support for these young people at risk.
